It is
very proudly announced that the overall performance of
Pakistani Contingent during said championship is good
and specially the performance of Mr Ghazanfar Ali in Fin
Weight and Miss Asia Batool in Welter Weight is highly
remarkable after getting Silver Medals respectively in
this high level championship. This is a big honour of
both male / female players of Taekwondo as well as for
Pakistan. PTF is very hopeful for getting the Gold
Medals in up comming next South Asian Games 2009 at
Bangladesh.

TAEKWONDO IN PAKISTAN
Taekwondo was introduced in
Pakistan by Korean Consulate during 1962 in Karachi with
the support of few Pakistanis who had the know-how of
the game. During 1970 Taekwondo Activities spread all
over Pakistan. In 1982 Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF)
got affiliated with Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and
Pakistan Olympic Association (POA). In 1977 another
landmark was reached in the shape of affiliation of PTF
with World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and Asian
Taekwondo Union (ATU). The first participation of
Pakistan Taekwondo Team in international level
competitions was to participate at Nepal in 1999 and the
team got 1 x Silver and 3 x Bronze Medals.
