Introduction of Taekwondo Peace Corps Programme

The WTF President Dr Chungwon Choue gave the idea in a meeting with IOC about the introduction and formation of Taekwondo Peace Corps team.  The main objective was to “contribute to the promotion of world peace, and enhance the image of Taekwondo and the WTF in the International sports community by establishing the Taekwondo Peace Corps. The World Taekwondo Federation launched the Taekwondo Peace Corps Programme in a ceremony in Suwon Korea, on July 5, 2008. WTF has selected 27 members of the Taekwondo Peace Corps team to send them into the various countries for a period of one month.  The first five countries selected for this course are Pakistan, Russia, Paraguay, India and China.

It is a great achievement of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation to be included in the first batch.  WTF actually recognized the great efforts of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation for the promotion of Taekwondo in Pakistan. In this regard WTF has extended its support to Pakistan Taekwondo Federation by sending its first Peace Corps Taekwondo Team to Pakistan. In addition to that there are many achievements of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation for example organisation of Taekwondo events in Pakistan, participation / representation in international events. Their major achievement is bringing Pakistan Team at top level in South Asia during the10th SAF Games in Srilanka.
